Hullo, folks,
Just thought I'd start my presence here at Gamers' Plane by introducing myself.
My name is John M. Kahane. I'm 59 years old, was born in England, but live in Ottawa, Ontario, am working as a translator, and have been roleplaying for close to 40 years now.
I'm an avid English football fan, love tennis and ice hockey, am an avid amateur archaeologist and palaeontologist, an avid reader of fantasy, science fiction, many mysteries, and historical works and non-fiction, write creatively in my spare time (such as it copiously is! ), have a fascination with various aspects of science, and am a huge music fan (Jethro Tull, Thea Gilmore, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Renaissance, The Strawbs, Abney Park, The Cog Is Dead, and several others are my long-time favourites). I've been a huge fan of time travel and dinosaurs, not necessarily in that order, since I was a relatively small child, and love stuff that combines the two.
When it comes to my roleplaying experience, well... I've been gaming, primarily running rpgs, for close to 40 years, as I mentioned. So I'll confine my listing here of rpg games to science fiction; otherwise the list would be huge. :) My roleplaying experience with sf rpgs includes TRAVELLER, UNIVERSE RPG (from SPI), SPACE: 1889, 2300 AD, ORBIT, SPACE OPERA, WORLDS BEYOND, SKYREALMS OF JORUNE (which I consider science fiction), BLUE PLANET, OTHER SUNS, FADING SUNS, and THOUSAND SUNS. And several other sf rpgs that I just can't remember at the moment. :)
I'm considering running one of two PbP games here on Gamers' Plane. Either the Primeval RPG from the folks at Cubicle 7, or the River of Heaven RPG from the folks at D101 Games. Once I've decided which of the two games I'll run here, I'll post up more in the appropriate thread about the game. :)
Anyway, glad to be here. Any thoughts, comments, or questions are welcome. :)
