One issue with Fog Cloud is that we also cannot see. We could certainly orient ourselves for the bridge before the spell is cast, but once we're over the bridge we'll be moving blindly.

I think if we are to cast Fog Cloud, we'd do it when we're about to enter the west door and place it on the road so that we're just outside the area of effect. That way it shields us from view and gives Ember time to unlock the door.

Except a sudden cloud of fog could potentially draw attention in and of itself, depending on weather conditions.

If we hide out in the dim, cross the river away from town, and slink in using cover and concealment then our plan isn't thwarted by good weather.

Also... from a meta standpoint if we can save the resource we probably should. Don't know that we'll land too many long rests once we hit those tunnels.

Edit: I was typing while CancerMan was posting. Valid point about our lack of vision as well.

Good points

Seems like we have a near consensus for approaching from Cecily’s road. If we do so late at night there will probably be fewer watchers, but this is a rural community, so I’d expect a lot of dogs or ducks…

Also, if Myrtha were leading a militia to secure a town such as this, there would be permanent guard posts on each main artery, so we’ll probably run into that kind of defensive arrangement as we approach. We should avoid any light sources, and perhaps have scouts slightly ahead to make sure that we see any guard posts before we are spotted.

Agreed, Chase can scout the way ahead to avoid any sentries.

Note: KidEnnui silently dropped out of the game. I followed up with him, and he admitted that it was not a mistake; he's backing away from PbP. So for the time being, I will be playing Jonel as an NPC while I open the recruitment thread to see if anyone else wants to join.

I know that we've since progressed on the underground map, but I just want to say that ever since we first stepped into the Orlane tunnels with this map, I've had "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees in my head.

What is the color code used in posts?
Blue is for PC's and I started to use green for NPC's and red for hostiles, but I would like to be consistent

For me, I have done different things over the years. But in that time, I've settled into a fairly consistent use of the following text formatting conventions across my games:
- blue for PC names
- brown for NPC names
- red for antagonist names
- red and underlined for successful attacks/damage to PCs
- green and underlined for beneficial effects applied to PCs
- underline for locations, areas of interest, and interactive items
- underline for successful attacks/damage to NPCs (both hostile and neutral NPCs)
- italics for names of deities, spells, special abilities, and organization names
- "bold between quotation marks for spoken dialog"
- ::purple italics between colons for internal/mental dialog::

But I have no expectation that anybody else engages in my formatting conventions. I just do it in the hopes of making what is often a LOT of text more readable.

Such is possible.

Just a heads up: I’m travelling starting this Saturday, August 2, and cannot guarantee regular posting for the next three weeks. Assuming I have decent internet connection, I might be able to post, but should you need to move things forward, please NPC my character as needed. I’ll be back on the 25th of August and will be able to catch up swiftly after my return.

I'm also travelling to America 4th august for two weeks, but should be online almost daily.

I hope they're good trips for both of you!

Hello -
Sorry for this notice, but I will be leaving the game for personal reasons.
Work had been successful, but increasingly demanding. I also plan to get married by next year. So basically, less time for gaming, game over probably. I want to stay but everytime i open the browser, i feel like rushed and i can't write anything of quality.

The game is very good, congratulations, spaceseeker, you are probably one of the best in this community.

Take care all of you!

Congratulations on your successes! I completely understand the need to drop out when life gets too busy, though I am sad to see you go. Best of luck in your future endeavors, your marriage, and I hope that you find a good game group when everything settles down. Since this is a public game, you can check in to read our progress periodically, or years down the line.

For the time being, I will run Arya as an NPC.

I totally agree with spaceseeker19. I'm sorry to see you go, but I'm happy for you

"I have discussed the problem with Ramen and I will be assisting you with my wizard abilities for the time being."
I love this.
