OK, this thread is for game-specific discussion and questions. Not general chit-chat, that is "threaded" elsewhere.

BEST THING YOU CAN DO when just getting started is to read (or at least skim) the posts already up. Do It! Do It! Then you can ask questions here. Got it?

Navigating the Gamers Plane site is not particularly intuitive. If you're having any issues with that please reply here and between us we'll get it sorted out.

And...I keep writing "Tavern Keeper" when I mean Gamers Plane. Sorry for any confusion! (Including my own.)

OOC:
I have tried to set-up a 'subscription' or 'subscribe' to the threads, like Preliminary Research - HOMEWORK assignment! and normally there is a 'subscribe' button, which I do not see. does anyone know what I am not doing?

Do you see a "Subscribe to thread" link near the top of the page below the title of the thread?

I did not see the "Subscribe to thread" link at the top of the page. I did see it at the bottom of the main forum page and so I subscribed there to the entire forum (I believe).

Note the missing 'subscribe to thread'! That is what caught me off guard.

Well, sorry, I'm stumped. I think it's always been there in other games for me.

State of the Game: Wow, whole lots of possible background to post. Boy do I miss the wiki function of Tavern Keeper! So, I will be putting up some more background NOT FOR COMMENT, but as reference material.

I have one more character coming who will be a SCOUT Pilot/Engineer with some basic Science background.

I am now planning 1 NPC "Crew" who will have some minor support possibilities during exploration and "digs" but will be primarily tied to the Ship itself. All player-characters should be actively involved in the Archeological surveys one way or another. We're going to do that sort of thing "on the fly", making it up as we go along. Be prepared to be IMAGINATIVE. Remember that I want to interpret skills very broadly so try not to go "my character can't do that" and instead say "Let me give it a go!"

There are 7 Staterooms on the Ship, 6 standard 'singles' and one "Family Suite". Since we will have a team of 8 (7 player characters and 1 NPC, plus Maxi the Robot who doesn't need a stateroom(!), two will have to share the suite. So far only one player-character identifies as female, so I'm provisionally planning that character as going in the suite along with a female NPC. That's still "up in the air"; we'll see.

The crew will decide its own leadership...or perhaps adopt anarchy as their operational style... Up to you all! Dr. Cole is the "Senior Scientist" with 7-terms and would 'tradionally' be the expedition leader, but there's no imperitive to conform to tradition.

NEW/addition-to-above:
As I was working on the ship deck-plans I have discovered to my chagrin that there are two additional half-size staterooms on either side of the bridge. (I had assumed they were storage/equipment lockers!). So really we have plenty of room for the current crew.

I intend to give the oversize "suite" stateroom to an NPC pair, "The Twins", who will serve primarily as Engineering support. And other 'crew' functions. That means whoever is 'junior' will end up in a cramped half-size stateroom. That leaves one 'empty' half size stateroom in case we get a late player addition. Woo-hoo!

I have made a few additional changes to the specifications previously posted. These are pretty minor.

We do need to decide on ship's vehicles. And the dual-turret weaponry. We can discuss that in this thread, I think.

On the turret, missile/drone launcher for at least one of them… (not to be confused with a Droyne launcher…). Ship’s vehicles, I’m good with. Thyra will take the cramped room if nobody else does.

Put a pulse laser and a missile launcher in the double turret.

Just for the record: In my games a pulse laser does more damage while a beam laser is easier to get a hit with.

AND you can launch large missile-size Drones (not Droyne) from the missile launcher, but small Drones can be hand launched and are nearly as capable.

Just my vote is for double missile launchers. Missiles until TL13 are the weapon of choice bc you can fire many of them quickly and present more dilemmas for the other ship.

I can live with it.

Twin Droyne launchers… no arguments from me… I wonder what Bob would think…
