Characters who read the Book of the Raven learn the following information about the Vistani:

The Vistani are human planar travelers often encountered in the Shadowfell, and they seem to be immune to the despair that besets all other visitors to that plane. They travel in horse-drawn, barrel-shaped wagons and have no permanent home.

The Vistani display their wealth openly as a sign of prosperity, sharing their good fortune with friends and strangers alike. Vistani resolve disagreements through contests that end with reconciliatory singing, dancing, and storytelling.

Vistani families can be big or small, but each family is a gerontocracy, with the oldest member ruling the roost. This elder has most of the responsibility for enforcing traditions, settling disputes, setting the course for the group’s travels, and preserving the Vistani way of life.

The Vistani have the power—some say gift—to travel through the mists that lead to forlorn realms within the Shadowfell known as the Domains of Dread, where creatures born in darkness dwell. This "gift" was thrust upon them by mysterious entities called the Dark Powers, as a boon for their kindness toward strangers.

The Vistani believe that ravens carry lost souls within them. Hence, killing a raven is considered bad luck in Vistani culture.

The Map
https://i.imgur.com/YGDlZLe.jpeg
After hours of scouring the dusty archives of an ancient library, cross-referencing faded scrolls and consulting eccentric sages, you finally unearthed an old, overlooked map. It marked the precise, hidden trail to Wytchway—the forgotten hamlet serving as the starting point for your journey.

Your path eventually leads you to a valley where the air turns thick and heavy. Emerging through a wall of clinging fog, you find all that remains of Wytchway. It is a ghost settlement. Decades ago, relentless monster attacks forced the residents to abandon their homes in terror. Today, a broken-down wagon sits rotting in the mud, surrounded by collapsed fences and dilapidated, fog-shrouded farmsteads. The eerie silence is broken only by the aggressive grunting of wild pigs, which now overrun the ruins as their sole inhabitants.

Recognizing that only shadows and beasts remain here, you quickly survey the area and consult your mysterious map once more. With the path ahead now clear, you leave the bleak ruins of Wytchway behind and push forward, stepping deeper into the unknown.

What you learned from Druid who left your party

1. Tyranny and Desolation (Over a decade ago)
It began with the arrival of a devastating red dragon. Driven by insatiable greed, the beast demanded exorbitant tributes of gold, livestock, and gems from every settlement in the region. Faced with impossible demands and the constant threat of immolation, the populace chose survival over their homesteads. They packed what they could and completely abandoned the region, leaving behind empty ghost towns and silent valleys. When the dragon realized there was no one left to subjugate or plunder, its pride turned into a towering fury. In a fit of petty vindictiveness, the beast turned its wrath upon the ancient forest, breathing lines of apocalyptic fire, intending to reduce the entire ecosystem to ash.

2. The Archdruid’s Intervention
News of the burning wildlands reached a powerful Archdruid, who rushed to the region to halt the apocalypse. To save the heart of the forest, the Archdruid executed two monumental feats of primal magic:The Landslide (Eastern Flank): On one side of the roaring inferno, the Archdruid tore down the face of a flanking mountain, triggering a massive landslide. This created a vast, barren scar of rock and earth that starved the fire of fuel and stopped its advance completely. The Primal Barrier (Western Flank): On the opposing side, the Archdruid channeled higher nature magic to magically suffocate the flames, freezing the embers and trapping the inferno within a tightening perimeter. With the fire contained, the Archdruid confronted the red dragon in a cataclysmic duel of magic and claw, ultimately banishing the wyrm from this material plane.

3. A Fragile Rebirth (The Present Day)
In the wake of the destruction, the Archdruid spent years pouring life energy back into the scorched earth, planting a completely new forest. However, a decade is but a blink of an eye to nature, and the land remains deeply scarred:The Sapling Forest: The woods are still in their infancy. The trees are thin, tightly packed, and lack the hollows, deep roots, and dense canopies required to sustain a complex ecosystem.
