I am looking for a GM who might be interested in running a Fate Core campaign set in the Star Wars universe during the fall of the Jedi Order.
The opening scene would take place immediately after Emperor Palpatine issues Order 66. Any Jedi player characters would experience the betrayal firsthand as their clone troopers suddenly turn against them. Other character types might witness the attack, lose someone because of it, become caught in the violence, or otherwise find their lives changed by the birth of the Galactic Empire.
Possible player characters could include:
- Jedi Knights or Padawans attempting to survive the purge
- Clone troopers struggling with their orders or programming
- Republic officers suddenly serving a new Empire
- Senators, diplomats, smugglers, bounty hunters, or ordinary citizens caught in the chaos
- Friends or allies of the Jedi who must decide whether to help them escape
I would like the campaign to take place in a remote section of the galaxy that has not been extensively covered by established Star Wars canon. This would give the GM and players room to create our own planets, factions, conflicts, and storylines without worrying about overlapping with or contradicting an established story arc. The larger events of Order 66 and the rise of the Empire would still form the background, but our characters would have the freedom to shape what happens in their own part of the galaxy.
The campaign could focus on survival, difficult choices, unlikely alliances, and the characters deciding what they will become as the Republic collapses around them. It would not need to follow established Star Wars canon exactly once the player characters begin influencing events.
I believe Fate Core could work well for this kind of character-driven story because aspects and consequences can represent divided loyalties, important relationships, fear of discovery, physical injuries, and the emotional scars left by Order 66.
I should also mention that I am new to Fate Core. I have a basic understanding of how to create a player character, but I am still learning the system. I would appreciate a GM who is comfortable helping a new player learn the rules as we play.
At the moment, this is only an interest check. I am looking for someone who enjoys Star Wars, understands or is willing to learn Fate Core, and would be excited to develop the campaign alongside the players.
Would any GM be interested in running something like this?
