UPDATE:

I found a GM on a different platform for the original requested party.

I do have 1 other character that I'd like to find a GM for, following the guidelines of the original GM request.

This game, if picked up, would not require the party to be included. Just my single character, thus leaving the door open for other players to join.

The scope also doesn't need to be as grand as the original request.

******

The requested game is envisioned as taking place in a future Faerûn, where the age of legendary figures - heroes such as Drizzt Do’Urden, Elminster Aumar, and the Companions of the Hall, as well as villains like Manshoon, Artemis Entreri, and Fzoul Chembryl - is fading or has already passed. In their wake, Faerûn stands on the threshold of a new era, where emerging heroes and villains alike have the opportunity to shape what comes next. The intent is for these four characters, over the course of their journey, to rise into that space and become some of the new heroes who will defend the Realms.

The Mercenary Group:

The four founders begin as unknown wanderers in a changing Faerûn. Over time they acquire allies, recruits, strongholds, contracts, political relationships, and responsibilities. Their company may start as four friends taking jobs for coin, but eventually it could become a force recognized across the Realms—a trusted company of explorers, monster hunters, troubleshooters, and defenders.

Much as the Knights of Myth Drannor became legends not because of a single adventure but because of the legacy they left behind, these four characters hope to create an organization that will continue protecting the Realms long after their own stories are over.

******

We are looking for a GM willing to run a small, character-driven D&D 5e campaign set in the Forgotten Realms for an already established group of four characters. We are particularly interested in a Gestalt-style game starting at level 1, where character identity and narrative development are given room to grow alongside mechanical progression.

For system preferences, we would favor the 2024 rules as a baseline, supplemented by 2014/Legacy material where needed, and limited UA content when it meaningfully supports a concept and is approved. We value mechanical clarity and balance, but we also value a GM who supports and enables strong thematic expression.

If it aligns with the campaign tone, we would appreciate a slightly more generous ability score method (expanded array, enhanced point buy, or similar). Since Gestalt characters inherently carry broader potential, this helps ensure each character begins with a distinct identity rather than feeling stretched thin across two class paths.

As a general principle, we are very open to collaboration and balance adjustments. If any aspect of a character, feature, or interaction feels too strong or disruptive to the campaign, we are fully willing to work with the GM to revise, limit, or reframe it in a way that preserves both mechanical balance and narrative integrity.

When you say "Gestalt" it's these 5e variant rules, right?

I'm not familiar with the term

There isn't an official gestalt ruleset for 5e, but rather various extrapolations from the original 3/3.5 gestalt rule set. The one you posted works well, as far as I can tell.

I would not bet on it. Sardis is also looking for a GM, so its mostly a wish for a very specific type of game that they want to play in.

@Sardis Could you share more details on you vision, or maybe even experience with "character-driven D&D". I'm really curios. Have seen lot of games here on PbP where players struggle to drive the story. Have experienced some at the table games where players decide the direction where PCs will go, decide morality and which faction their PCs will help (i.e. what side they take during a battle between elves and dwarfs, when both sides believe they have they are the right side). But even in that game we never know what event and what surprises will DM drop into the story with each session. As a matter of fact it was the lest predictable of any games I've been to.

Thanks for asking!

When I say "character-driven," I don't mean that the players write the plot or that the GM steps back and lets the party wander aimlessly. I still expect the GM to create mysteries, conflicts, villains, surprises, and major events. In fact, some of the best character-driven games are also the least predictable because nobody knows how the characters will respond when those events occur.

What I mean is that the campaign pays attention to who the characters are, what they care about, and how they change over time. Character goals, fears, loyalties, relationships, beliefs, and personal histories become meaningful parts of the story rather than just flavor text on a character sheet. The GM presents situations; the characters' choices determine how those situations unfold. In that sense, the story emerges from the interaction between the world and the characters rather than from a predetermined script.

For example, if a character has sworn to protect a community, carries guilt over a past failure, or is searching for a lost family member, those elements can occasionally become relevant to the campaign. Not because the campaign revolves around a single character, but because the characters are active participants in the narrative. Their motivations matter.

Using your elves-versus-dwarves example, a character-driven approach isn't simply choosing a side. It's exploring why a particular character chooses that side, how the decision affects them, what relationships it creates or damages, and how that choice changes them moving forward. The conflict itself still comes from the GM; the character's response is what drives the drama.

I also don't view character-driven play as being opposed to exploration, combat, politics, mysteries, or epic plots. Those are often the vehicles through which character development happens. The difference is that the campaign treats the PCs as protagonists with meaningful agency rather than as spectators moving through a story that would largely happen the same way without them.

So in practical terms, I'm looking for a game where the GM creates an interesting world full of opportunities, threats, and surprises, while also being interested in who the characters are and what they become. The destination isn't known in advance, but the journey is shaped by the characters' decisions and relationships.

To me, that's the sweet spot between a fully GM-directed narrative and a completely open sandbox.
