[Interest Check] Anyone interested in any OSR?

Hey all,

Since the OSR-style game I'd thought to join hasn't had any news, my want to run a game has overtaken wanting to be a player. But, now there is a question on my mind; two, in fact.

Firstly, IS there anyone else interested in playing some OSR (old school renaissance)?

Second, WHAT system would people want?

Since OSR really just encompasses modern restatements/rulesets based on or inspired by D&D B/X or AD&D 1e, there's a fair number to choose from. Some being easier to get into than others, others being quite expansive and a bit crunchy.
To this end, if anyone is interested, would people prefer to play one of the systems such as: Old School Essentials, Black Hack 2e, Dungeon Crawl Classics, or Basic Fantasy RPG?
Should a game get going, I'd likely just run a module or dungeon to keep things simple on my end. Depending on the system chosen, I might opt to convert one to it.

So, anyone interested or have any thoughts?

There is a fairly consistent OSR presence here which I join from time too time. I am full up with too many games going to join another at the moment. I have seen OSE and DCC both played here as well as D&D 1e and AD&D, which I grew up on.

It is often just a matter of timing too get a game going. It might be slow too get a game going at one point but then at another there will be multiple games starting at once which all get going. Good luck

Basic Fantasy RPG is a B/X clone and everything for it is 100% free. Core book, setting books, adventures, everything- FREE. But, I'm down for anything OSR.

I would definitely be interested in something OSR. Out of the systems suggested, I would prefer Basic Fantasy.

I like the price for Basic Fantasy. It'll be nice having access to the rules for a change :) I'd love a little fantasy.

I've been meaning to play OSR for a while, so I would be interested. I'm not picky on the system, but I would love to play a module.

Add me to the list of OSR enjoyers! From the systems mentioned, I prefer Basic Fantasy RPG and Old School Essentials, but am more than happy to try out little-known hacks as well.

Glad I didn't scare you off of OSR, Aline!

Great to see so much interest -- love these games and I'll be running more myself once I wrap an Outcast Silver Raiders game.

Isle of Dread was a good one. X1 that is.

I like OSR over 5e. I'm partial to Hackmaster (which is modern, but has an OSR feel), B/X, BECMI, and 1e.

I'd be up for an adventure using AD&D 1ed and probably AD&D 2ed too.

Wow, that is actually a lot more folks than I expected to see! Like, a lot more! Glad to see it happen :3

Okay then, I'll mull over what to set up. Looks like Basic Fantasy may be the winner here, but I do wanna run another system in the future. I've had a dungeon crawling idea for the past few weeks that I'm still brainstorming on.

Peanut Gallery Comment: Basic Fantasy is its own game — it’s not a retroclone of an older game, though it’s strongly rooted in B/X. It’s been a long while since I’ve read it, but if memory serves it replaces race-as-class with races that can choose from a limited palette of classes.
