Hey all!
Life has settled down for the most part and I've been able to return to GP. In an effort to give me a chance to step back and relax some I've thought about running a game using one of my new favorite systems.

I’m planning a Shadowrun‑style game set in 2050, using Cities Without Number as the system (no prior knowledge of either required). Think street‑level operators, cyberware everywhere, magic that’s back and unsettling, and megacorps that own more than they should.

The focus will be on:
* Street cyber, fixers, hackers, riggers, mages, and runners
* Jobs, legwork, and personal consequences
* A reactive world where small choices add up
* Gritty, rough streets in an occupied city

This will be a play‑by‑post game, aiming for about three to four posts per week on average. I’d like to get 3–4 players who would love diving into their characters and the world. New players are very welcome — The system is easy to pick up and there's a free SRD available for it.

The game will deal with adult themes common to Shadowrun (violence, corporate exploitation, body modification, cults, etc.), but we’ll talk boundaries up front to make sure everyone’s comfortable. The game is explicitly LGBT‑friendly and inclusive.
Right now this is just an interest check but I hope to turn it into the recruitment thread before long. :)

If you’re interested, reply or message me and let me know:
* Your PbP experience (or none!) / Familiarly with CWN or related games.
* What kinds of characters you enjoy
* Any early character ideas (optional)

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, I’d love to hear from you. :)

I'm not familiar with Cities Without Number, but I found it on DriveThroughRPG and skimmed the book, to get an idea of how it playes out.

What I did'nt find was a magic section, as I would be interested in playing a Shadowrun mage. Where would I find the rules for magic and spell casting?

And my PBP experience stretches over 7 years.

I'd be interested in seeing how CWN plays out a Shadowrun setting. SR is one of my all-time favorite settings, CWN is new to me tho.

Hey there! I'd like to try it out. I've never played CWN but have heard a lot of good things. I've played PBP games for about the past year or so. I'd like to try out a hacker roll as I've never played that type of character before but am looking for something new. Maybe someone who's a little more corporate and less street urchin just to change it up a bit.

I honestly didn't expect this much interest so quickly. :)

@runekyndig - The Magic information is actually in the Deluxe edition and unavailable to the free edition. However, there is hope. :) The Magic section and information on the Gifted (or Adept in Shadowrun terms) is available in the Cities Without Number System Resource Document which is also available for free. :)

@witchdoctor - I'm discovering exactly how SR-like CWN is. I am looking forward to running this.

@AceRancheros - Sounds like an interesting concept. :)

This wll be my first time running CWN, so I imagine we all will be learning a bit as we go. I won't turn this into a recruitment yet to collect any questions, etc. and set up the game forum. but I may have that complete by the end of the week...

Ok, I am interested but have no knowledge of Shadowrun except for a mate I play Blood Bowl with loves the game.

Been here a while and love playing by PbP, and happy to learn a new system.

Only negative currently I am in Japan for another week, so might not be able to really participate until I am back home.

Thank you - I will look into that document when I get home.

Shadowrun is a fantastic setting, unfortunately the game system is almost overwhelmingly crunchy

I would be interested in playing a Shadowrun Game. I did 1 campaign a while back on the site. If you still have room. We used to play Shadowrun kids and would play like cyber ninja characters, but we never really played any coherent campaigns. I'd be willing to try rigger or decker character.

I would be interested in playing, too. Didn't play CWN so far, but would like to do it.

Playing pbp for over a decade now.

As for character ideas, I'm open for different paths; probably testing out some awakened casters like a dabbling street shaman or other traditions to mount the train of magic which is not completely defined already.
