Redhawk is surprised the one Hob is still on his feet. He will slowly unshoulder his bow and nock an arrow. Redhawk will mark the one drinking water.

Sure. Roll Initiative with Advantage and let's play to find what happens.

You can move up to half your speed for free, ignoring difficult terrain. Your Thrill of the Hunt charges starts with 0, though. ;)

Redhawk has he will mark the Hob drinking then he will fire at the one standing guard. He inhales as he draws and aims the slowly exhales and looses. He will then draw another arrow with practiced ease Nock and inhale with the draw and aim exhale and loose. As soon as the second arrow flies he will duck down in the brush.
OOC:
The second shot on the mark was with advantage but being second attack canceled by disadvantage.

The shaft cuts clean through the dark and slams into the hobgoblin standing watch. The soldier grunts and stumbles a step. H4 snaps his bow up toward the ridge, already searching for your position.

Before the guard can fire, Redhawk has another arrow nocked.

The second shot flies low through the trees and strikes the hobgoblin at the creek as he pushes up from the water. The hit twists him sideways, but instead of falling, the hobgoblin snarls through the pain and rips a shortsword free.

"Enemies!" the guard barks.

H3 charges uphill through the brush toward Redhawk, carrying a shortsword, splashing across the creek and crashing through the undergrowth with reckless speed while the archer plants his feet and draws a bead on the ranger’s position...

Redhawk, you drop low as the charging hobgoblin bursts through the brush. At the last second, you step inside his wild swing and drive your dagger hard into his side.

The hobgoblin gasps, stumbling.

You strike again immediately, the second thrust punching up beneath his ribs. The creature collapses at your feet, dead before it hits the ground.

Across the creek, the remaining hobgoblin curses in his harsh tongue and looses another arrow toward your position. He misses.

Redhawk will mark the archer the throw his dagger at him then unshoulder his bow and fire a incendiary shot. I will use adv for my attacks because of the mark.

Rolls

Dagger throw w/adv - (2d4h1+2, RA)

(242) + 2 = 8

Short bow incendiary - (1d6+2+2d8, RA)

(62) + (75) + 2 = 22

Redhawk, you fix your focus on the last hobgoblin and mark him as prey.

In one smooth motion, you hurl your dagger across the creek. The blade spins through the darkness and strikes the hobgoblin high in the shoulder. Before the creature can recover, you already have your bow in hand.

You draw, ignite the prepared arrowhead, and loose.

The incendiary shot streaks through the trees and punches into the hobgoblin’s chest. This is a magic flame, that bursts across its armor and filthy cloth in a huge explosion. The hobgoblin lets out a sharp, choking cry before dying.

Silence settles back over the woods.
OOC:
Well, you did it! You could have died here, but you won without significant injuries. We'll close this thread after your next post.

What do you do?

If you search the bodies, you will recover two shortbows, two shortswords, battered leather armor, and a small pouch of mixed coins. Altogether, the gear and coin should sell for roughly 21 gp in Phandalin.

Studying the ground around the creek, you can still make out the trail left by the hobgoblin warband. The tracks continue north, deeper toward the Neverwinter Woods. By morning, you are confident you could pick the trail up again and continue the hunt, if you wish.

Please tell us your next steps, ideally In Character, so we can end this "side quest"

Rolls

Loot (in gp) - (3d8+10)

(425) + 10 = 21

Redhawk takes a deep breath to settle himself after the quick fight. He will collect the bows, arrows, swords, and coins. He recover his trusty dagger and claim the best sword for himself. It will be nice to have a little more reach if he has go melee. Redhawk will hide the bodies before returning to the party to inform them of the trail.
