The Pitch:
Arkham, Massachusetts, October 12th, 1693. (Content Warnings are at the bottom)
Paranoia has gripped the good people of Massachusetts, wickedness and witchcraft has already made its home within Salem, and now, fears are beginning to bloom it has spread to the newly settled township of Arkham. The air has turned funny, livestock born deformed, and most of all, rumors of howling specters in the night.

The Devil’s Daughters is a one-shot style scenario with two players who take on the role of two young girls named Bridget "Biddy" Fowler, and Alice Parris. Unlikely friends, these two have bonded over their shared outcasted nature. It is also up to these two to face the coming trials, and to see whether their friendship will last.

This is based off a pre-published module, however I’ve modified it greatly to make it less linear, although by its nature of being a one-shot with Pre-Gens it will be somewhat linear, in the sense there’s obvious progression of events and the overall storyline. But things like dialog, character arcs, and relationships are up to the players.

Tone:
A horror tale similar in vein to Arthur Miller’s The Crucible and Robert Eggers the VVitch, a slow burn physiological horror with a few scant dashes of the fantastical.

Playstyle:
Emphasis on roleplay and characterization, the two characters backstories and relationships are pre-established, but how you wish to portray their personalities and relationships are completely up to the players. Semi-linear.

Game Duration & Post Frequency:
1 post per day (although more than one is always appreciated).
2 Players (Pre-Generated characters will be provided.)

My best guess is that this will take no more than three or four weeks to complete, since this is my first Play-By-Post game I’m GMing, it might take longer or it might be shorter, so be warned.

First Come First Serve:
While absolutely everyone is welcome to play in any future campaign I host, due to the one-shot nature of this game and the fact pre-gens will be used, the first two people to show interest will be the ones who are invited to play, if a character is selected then automatically the second person will be assigned the remaining Pre-Gen.

Players who enjoy strong roleplay would best be suited for this as well.

The Player Characters:
Bridget "Biddy" Fowler – Age 13.
https://i.imgur.com/NUbgH4c.png
Born out of wedlock to an unknown mother and unknown father who were promptly banished from Arkham for the crime of fornication, Bridget was the result of the union. Named Bridget at her birth and given the moniker Biddy to help separate her from other girls with the same name in the township, she was taken in as an indentured servant by John and Ester Fowler, a farmer and his wife respectively.

Having fallen on hard times, John forced Biddy to worked countless hours throughout her young childhood tending to the farm. Lashing her severely whenever she refused or in his opinion did a poor job. Isolated and shunned by the other children for the nature of her birth, Biddy grew to be resentful and filled with spite at her position in life.

That was until she met Alice Parris while she was relaxing at the bridge overcrossing the Miskatonic River, somehow, despite the two being polar opposites, they struck up a friendship. Biddy isn't entirely sure how she feels about Alice, only that she finds her a little less annoying then the other people of the township.

Naturally talented with a needle and thread, Biddy enjoys making poppets in her spare time and has become adept at slipping away from people she doesn't like, which is almost everyone.

Alice Parris - Age 14
https://i.imgur.com/fbpPyTZ.png
One late night fourteen years ago Reverend Matthew Parris returned during a terrible storm on horseback carrying a small bundle in his arms, inside the bundle was the babe Alice. Having found her in a destroyed wagon along the side of the road, the Reverend rescued the poor girl but found no trace of her parents. Once the storm passed, a search party went out, neither the wagon or her parents were ever found.

Adopted by the Reverend and taking on his surname, Alice grew up within the church of Arkham, being taught to read and write by her adopted father, she quickly took to the faith and became a devout follower. Given access to the Reverend's extensive library and allowed to borrow books from it has allowed Alice to develop a more in depth education and knowledge about the world then most girls her age within the township of Arkham.

One day while walking towards the outskirts of Arkham to find a secluded spot to pray and read the bible, Alice met the shy and secretive Biddy Fowler. Speaking to the girl and enjoying her company, Alice quickly disbelieved the widespread rumors in Arkham of her being a "witch child" or cursed in some way.

Alice always carries a copy of the bible with her wherever she goes, she's tried reading it to Biddy with...interesting results.

Content Warnings
• Colonial puritan attitudes and beliefs - (This is a big one, so if you aren’t comfortable with that then this probably isn’t for you. Although I will promise I’ll handle it respectfully without it being gratuitous.)
• Child Abuse/Possible Child Death – (Again, if you are uncomfortable with this or roleplaying the effects of either I would highly recommend giving this game a pass.)
• Violence & Blood.
• Religious Horror - (This is more of a genre but I thought I might as well mention it just in case)

This sounds really interesting. I've played a fair amount of CoC. The setting sounds intriguing and I like to play pre-gen characters. So I'm definitely up to joining if there is a free seat.
I would be happy to play either of the characters.

Alright, I'll invite you to join when I create the game, which of the two girls would you want to play?

I have a seriously hard time avoiding CoC. Since Stefron spoke first, I'd happily take the other girl.

I think I'll go with Alice then.
Alright, I'll create the game tomorrow and invite the two of you to it.

Pardon the delay, having a little trouble with setting up the game.

I promise I will, I'm willing to put more effort than none at all into getting it running, once the issue is fixed I'll send out the invites.

No worries. I saw the post you made about the link to the game forum. Same thing happened to me when I clicked on it. Hope it will be resilved soon.

By the way, if it is not too much trouble, could you add Custom sheet as allowed characters sheet. There are a good CoC custom character sheet that works better than the build-in CoC sheet.

It's no problem allowing the custom sheets, I'm going to follow the advice Cancerman gave me and create a new game and see if that fixes it. I'll post the link here and then send out the invites if it does.

Great news everyone, we managed to figure out the issue and can now continue with the game. Due to me having been at work at day and feeling pretty drained, I'll save actually starting the game until tomorrow, I'll post Biddy and Alice's character sheet for you two to copy or transcribe or however you want to do, either late tonight or early tomorrow in the morning if that's fine with both of you.
