The heroes begin their travel back towards the Daggerwake at dawn. A harsh storm rages above...you must decide whether to continue through the rough currents and debris, or wait it out.

We are still using weight belts and moving seafloor, right? As a player I assumed and it is what I can still read on internet that that even during pretty bad storm at depths of several hundred feet there is pretty much zero wave action.

Since I can't as a player see and speculate danger of "currents and debris" I would like not to take that decision as a player. If you insist, please roll a dice for me and pick as dice say.

You would see the debris above you indicating currents, and you would be heading towards the Daggerwake, which is about 60 feet below the surface of the water.

"I say we travel. If it starts getting to rough we can always backtrack a bit and hunker down."

Rolls

Dice - (1d2)

(1) = 1

You take the path back the way you came and soon come across the small cave you spent the night. It is as you remember it. Nightfall is soon coming and you make camp in the small grotto once more, hoping the storm will pass and you find calm in the morning.

Supply of food and water have you down to your last day of rations.

OOC:
Can you remind me please how much time did we spend last time going from wreck to this place?
Could you also please share what's the penalty for being without drinkable water in this system? Are we going to die before we are back to temple?
Mar 24, 2026 12:28 am
OOC:
You spent a day finding the Daggerwake, another finding this cave and in the morning you headed out to the Merfolk Temple. This would be your third day of rations. If you head out in the morning you will make it to the Daggerwake by late afternoon and will need one more day to make it to the Village. So two more days ahead of you.
OOC:
I don't see any of these types of rules for running out of rations on a journey in the Swords & Wizardry Complete Revised RPG core. I am using a supplement called "Journeys, Voyages and Trips for the Majestic Fantasy RPG" as a guide. I am assuming you will only need to make a simple Attribute check (1d20 vs Wis, equal or lower than the stat) to forage or hunt for enough food to feed the party. If not, you will roll attacks and Attribute checks at disadvantage or -2 whichever one makes sense to you. And a second day will mean half movement on top of that. By then you will have made it to the village.

I find food/water management the most boring part or a role-play-game and I vote to move on and just suffer anything DM want us to suffer. So I vote we sleep in the small grotto and move on as soon as everyone have had their night sleep.

P.S. Just an opinion in 5e character can survive without food for 3+ Constitution modifier days, but suffer penalties for even a day without water. I find it very realistic.

While is the grotto Varos will look around to see if there might be and edible food around. I guess he will sleep with an empty belly.
OOC:
Haha, when I want to roll high I roll low. When I want to roll low I roll high.

Rolls

Wisdom check - (1d20)

(19) = 19

Remarkably, you find a few clay pots with a few dried sausages and apples within, enough to fill the bellies of all three of you.

Mar 25, 2026 5:36 pm
Yep, 1 per 8 hour rest or a potion of healing works too.
Mar 25, 2026 6:23 pm
OK I'm still at 9-5=4 wisdom. Quite dumb. Expect nonsense from him.
Did we wake up next morning? Able to continue to Daggerwake? Reach it?
Mar 26, 2026 1:46 am
OOC:

I am entering shipwreck and search priest
Mar 26, 2026 10:35 am
Biscuit will follow.
Mar 26, 2026 8:47 pm
Varos will also follow and head to where they last saw the ghost.
Mar 28, 2026 2:43 pm
As you search for the priest, you find he is having a discussion with Mother Hush. She does not move her lips though he is registering that he is communicating with her. He is seated at a small table, unbound. She is handing him a small clam shell with an oyster in it...
OOC:
Apologies for the delay, work had me exhausted!

I was trying imagine how do we eat underwater without getting salted sea water mixed with the food... I guess I better don't :)
Yes we killed ichor. Yes we saved the world and you, priest. You are welcome. Now, are you able to go home?

"Mo...muh...meh," says Brin.

"Because you have slain the creature, T'Quatzal, I can now speak. I had to hide my presence from T'Quatzal, for I held the memories of the people, like a vast repository of emotion and thoughts. I am surprised I was able to contain it all and still assist you. T'Quatzal managed to infiltrate Brin's mind. He wanted to use him as a symbiotic mind to do his bidding in the land of the air breathers. For this we give you thanks. He will need more time to heal his mental wounds. He was subjected to many harsh memories, thoughts so alien and horrific, it is a wonder he is aware of you. I will care for him here, but I cannot guarantee his full recovery. What will you do now?" says Mother Hush.

Ok, we can wrap it up here and begin a new adventure or call it quits. I enjoyed it. I like S&W, not bad. Lots of rulings, instead of rules. If we continue, Ill recruit once more. There is a player on the back burner so to speak.
Mar 30, 2026 2:42 pm
Thank you! Great game. I mostly play/run OSE, so it was a nice glimpse into OD&D. I am willing to keep playing.
Mar 30, 2026 9:49 pm
Thanks for the game. It was very enjoyable and fun. I am also willing to continue.
Mar 30, 2026 11:52 pm
Sweet! I am trying to recruit another player.
Mar 31, 2026 4:53 am
