The unique floodplain and dune‑forest mosaics of the Danube Delta with its subtropical micro-climates, wild horses, and rare plant assemblages. The Danube Delta hosts an exceptionally rich wetland flora with its reedbeds, marshes, shallow lakes, channels, sand dunes, and alluvial forests form the main vegetation mosaic. About 1,700–1,830 plant species across this landscape. Its dominant habitats are extensive grasses and reeds. Reedbeds, floating and submerged aquatic plants, and floodplain, or alluvial, forests of willow, poplar and alder give this area a rich and unique blend of flora.
