'Ello peeps!

Hey all, I'm Adelina, and I happen to be totally new to TTRPGs, collaborative world-building/fiction and the like. I come from a country where it's nigh impossible to find a group of people to play with, so after a lot of research I've decided to dip my toes into some forums and familiarize myself with the community and TTRPGs.

As I shall assume is common with a lot of new people, I got interested in the world of TTRPGs after having played many Story-Driven RPG games such as Fallout New Vegas, Disco Elysium, Tides of Numenara, Tyranny, Baldur's Gate and being fascinated by the roleplaying opportunities they presented. My modus-operandi when engaging with fiction is to imagine myself in the boots of the characters of the story, and to be able to influence the actions of the character through which I'm engaging with a story is an offer so alluring that I'd never be able to turn down.

After doing some research and inquiring some of my friends, Apocalypse World in particular caught my eye. Its dark gritty setting and the fascinating mechanics really looked interesting. But I understand that it's a really niche system, so I'm open to any other system, including but not limited to DnD-5e, PF (1 & 2 e), Fabula Ultima etc.

A little note on my writing skills, even though I consider myself to be proficient in English, my writing, structuring and especially formatting skills are definitely still at a very infantile level. I hope I'll be able to improve alongside y'all

I'm guessing that English isn't your first language? Not really a problem here as there's lots of other people in the same situation as you. PbP TTRPGs are a great way to flex your linguistic skills!

Welcome! Disco Elysium was a great one! If you haven't played Clair Obscur yet, it is very good!

That's a difficult question to answer xd, been able to understand this language for as long as I can remember, just never talked in English until I was nearly a teen.
Ironically enough, my writing skills are worse in my 1st language (Sinhala) because it's a very diglossic language (ie a language where the written and spoken forms are vastly different) and I'm not really good at the written language.
Sorry to overshare a bit, I love languages and culture and their intersection
