With regards to character,if I do lock in on participating in this I'm thinking of playing a dissolute slacker who got sent to a border garrison to shape up and earned some distinction there, only to be called back (presumably after some string-pulling) to help oversee the Xian estate.

Not settled on class/build yet however.

Ok so I am just going to make a pretty classic Ranger. He will have a guard dog, (a pug), that will continue to grow like the mythical Fu Dog.

Would you allow the Urban Ranger variant?

力威 (Liwei)
Male Half-Elf Fighter

Li is the second of three sons born to a human father and a mother of fair-folk origins. His mother was never an active part of the Xian Clan, and as result, our half-elven fellow has always considered himself something of an outsider among his other cousin-kin. But given to sensibilities of fair spirits, Li has managed to develop a heightened skill in diplomacy, and a special sense of wariness about motives and manners. While not as stout as his fellow warriors, Li is spry and skillful, diplomatic and sensible, and he celebrates savvy swordsmanship as much as most any other of his particular zhǒnglèi.

OOC:

That’s a start, can do more later.

Asking DM, may I please play a Half Elf Fighter, from Races of Destiny (pp 157-158)?
Understanding if we’re rather humans-strictly, and if so - could I still do the specs as a human fighter instead? Basically dropping to d8 hit die and turning in a few bonus feats in exchange for 4+Int Skills per level, two-weapon fighting style and eventually an interesting Diplomacy mechanic.

Thx.

Certainly going to need that, there are going to be issues in court, politics, conspiracies, and betrayals. Best suited for rogues.

Guess it's my turn now. It must be said,I'm feeling a little daunted, having not played 3.5 before. Seems a bit of a challenge, considering things like a large skill list and cantrips being limited.

Either way,the distribution of roles right now means I'm inclined to play a sorcerer,or bard perhaps.

Edit: Aren't I lucky,set 1 is the clear winner.

Ok, first just take a deep breath, everyone has been where you are now.

Bard and rogue have a lot of skills, but it is because there are so many types.

bards can be diplomats, performers, merchants, dig through scrolls to locate lost ruins. Each has a different set of skills, when making your character think about the concept then figure out what skills you need. You could even go the path of an 'expert' focused on craft, a historian focused on lore, or a profession

Glad to see everyone's as impressed as I am. (Feeling a bit of an inclination to go with set 3 instead though, specialized but not with an overwhelming strength or weakness at least at level 1.)

Circling back to this backstory,I suppose I would make this character either a diviner/scout of sorts for the garrison if I go with sorcerer (do we already have a primary caster?) or a liaison/diplomat if a bard.

You need to add your class and level at the top.
Humans get
A bonus feat at 1st level, in addition to one at 1st. (You're short one)
Gain 4 more skill points at 1st (after the normal) after 1st level they also gain +1 point at each level.

fix and I'll approve.

It’s the 3.5 sheet on this site. Under New Character, drop-down menu for Template.

It won't let me put my class in. I put it in it disappears when I hit save. I added the feat and used the extra skill points. 44 for human rouge.
