Hello everyone! I am looking to recruit 1-2 people to join an ongoing Curse of the Crimson Throne campaign.

The system is Pathfinder 1st Edition. The PCs are Lvl 9 and we are currently making progress through the 3rd Adventure book (of 6).

THIS blog post outlines some elements of the player's guide.

Optional Rule Systems in Use:
Hero Points
Elephant in the Room
Background Skills

---

We currently have in the party: a Wizard, a Paladin, and a Hunter (with Gorilla animal companion).

Post rate I'd like to have as we move forward is at least 2-3 posts/week, but I hope to keep it going faster if possible.

Please respond with a character concept if interested and feel free to ask any questions here. I'll keep this recruitment thread open for a few days and select who I feel would be a good fit. Some PF1e experience would be preferable, as building a 9th level character can be overwhelming otherwise.

Human (Chelaxian) Cavalier (Musketeer)

Alexite (Alex to friends) is a bearded swashbuckling fellow of medium height and build, hazel eyes, and straggly brown hair. He sports light armor over blue clothing, and the obligatory fop feathered hat. He’s a loyal companion, devoted to his friends and his order, and he never breaks a promise.

He was a fatherly figure to his nephew, Aerodus, who disappeared one day while in our brave swashbuckler’s charge. Alex suspects the villain Gaedren Lamm, and for now these past four years he’s been searching for him feverishly. While he’s had some leads, he’s found it’s time to seek out like-minded adventurers who might need his talents, and maybe help him in his own cause.

Cheers everyone. :)

Hi,

Familiar with the first book of CotC through the Savage Worlds version and would love to continue the story. Also familiar with PF 1E and recently built an 8th level character for a different game, so 9th shouldn't be a stretch.

Post rate isn't a problem.

Regarding character, always wanted to play an (Elven) Investigator and it seems to fit the AP well and would complement the current party makeup. Story-wise, he was hired by a noble house when their daughter died under mysterious circumstances, which led to Gaedren Lamm. He's been keeping tabs on the adventuring party since and with the situation in Korvosa escalating decided it's time to join forces.

Thanks!

Will you be expecting newcomers to have one of the background traits as well?

I'm probably not the absolute best candidate for this point in time, given that the last I played PF1e was a couple of two-shots several years ago. Would appreciate being (say) considered if you ever bring another person on board for the subsequent books of the adventure path, however.

The character ideas that speak to me right now are a sacred fist warpriest of Calistria/Naderi/Milani (depending on which angle would be appropriate) who swore an oath of service to their deity and underwent martial training for the sake of getting revenge on Gaedren Lamm after he caused the death of their lover. That or a carnivalist rogue who traveled to Korvosa as part of a performing caravan, and gets trapped within the walls with the rest of the group due to the ensuing events.

I would say at this stage a Campaign Trait would not be required, as we are well beyond the original hook involving Gaedren Lamm.

However, any character joining should have strong ties to Korvosa, in that they should be driven to save the city.

Are only the Core races allowed? I like the idea of being a bard or rogue with experience as a trade negotiator and translator in the harbor, likely an expat of some sort who after many years on trade ships has found an established home in Korvosa.

I am open to other races, as long as it makes sense for the story. Korvosa is primarily populated with core races, primarily human. I would only caution that your choices matter, and a tengu or something will stand out and be conspicuous. Whether that's good or bad will depend :D

If you are open to someone who has not played Pathfinder before but has a lot of 3.5 experience, I would love to join. I have always been intrigued by Curse of the Crimson Throne and have a passing knowledge of Korvosa from pre-campaign exploration.

I have come up with Vargo Thane, a half-orc born in Belkzen and raised under the harsh tutelage of a shaman. As a youth, he fled that brutal life and joined a Varisian caravan, eventually earning acceptance and marrying Ilvara, the caravan master’s daughter. When the caravan settled near Korvosa, Vargo remained in the city, working as a dockhand and later a conscript in the Korvosan Guard while navigating the subtle discrimination faced by a half-orc citizen.

Lyra, their daughter, was born shortly after their marriage. For the past several years, Vargo built a quiet life for his family until the recent Blood Veil plague claimed Ilvara, leaving him to protect Lyra amidst Korvosa’s quarantine and collapse. He wears Ilvara’s kapenia as a tribute to her memory and her faith in Desna. Vargo is a front-line combatant who is tempered by his past, shaped by grief, and fiercely protective of the family he has left.

It is possible that during the party’s actions in the Blood Veil chapter, they ran across Vargo, who was unwilling to leave his sick wife. When she died before the plague ended, he did not blame the heroes, but he felt that if they truly wished to change Korvosa for the better, to make it a place where all who live there could be free, he would pick up arms and join them.

Mechanically, I am envisioning a Bloodrager who has been shaped by the recent events of the Blood Veil into a fighter fiercely loyal to the disenfranchised and vulnerable in Korvosa.

If that works for you, let me know and I can work up a character sheet.

Closing this out - thank you everyone for showing interest! I have slots I need to fill in a couple other games, so keep your eyes peeled here if there's more Pathfinder 1e interest out there.
