Details for character creation. Character sheet is below.

We will do group creation together. You can do either guided or constructed. Guided is completely random, constructed is picking off the charts but also rolling some things as indicated in said charts. I'd prefer guided as random characters can produce interesting results but if you have a good concept in mind, constructed is fine too.

We also need to decide if we want to play in an established universe like Marvel or DC, or just stick with Sentinels/generic universe we will make up as we go along. Please vote in the poll below.

Let's start with Backgrounds. Once Backgrounds are rolled I will share images of those specific Backgrounds to save myself a lot of work lol. Please roll your dice in this thread. I'll keep a tally of who rolls what and check we don't get any overlaps.

The dice are really small, and I am not sure what exactly I'm supposed to be rolling.

EDIT: Seems my options are Blank Slate, Performer, or Retired. Don't know what those mean mechanically so I'll hold off on a decision for now, though they all seem interesting.

Step 2: Roll dice listed from Background for a Power Source.

My Choices are, Nature (6) Powered Suit (8), Radiation (9), Alien (14), Genius (15), or Extradimensional (17).

Going with Alien.

Choose 2 Yellow Abilities assigned a different power. Empower & Repair [Radiant] and Halt [Vitality]
I'll rename them once I know more about my character.

Upgrade 1 d6 power or quality, I don't have any so the second option of gaining an additional power at d6 level Speed.

My Choices are Natural Leader (2), Inquisitive (9), or Stoic (11).

I'll go with Stoic. Gives me the following.
Status Dice. Green d6, Yellow d8, and Red d10.
Quality based on Backstory - Angel of Andromeda d8

Out Ability - Defend [Angel of Andromeda]

Step 5:
Red Abilities - Endurance Fighting (Qualify through Close Combat d8) and Paragon Feat [Strength].

Step 6: Ret-Con - 3rd Red Ability
Final Wrath [Conviction]

Step 7: HP
8 + 10 (Max of Red Status Die) + 10 (Max of Vitality Die) + d8 rolled = 32.
Green - 32-25 HP, Yellow 24-12 HP, and Red 11-1 HP.

Edit: Okay, rolled doubles, so my choices are Unremarkable or Military, both of which I rather like. On this occasion though, I think I'm going to go with Unremarkable though, someone for the more fantastic backgrounds to bounce off of a bit.

Moving on to the Power Source, what absurdity has changed this simple mortal's life forever?

Okay, so, we've got Experimentation, Nature, a Relic, Tech Upgrades, a Supernatural element, and being Cursed as options. On one hand, Experimentation or Tech-Upgrades could be really fun, especially with a former-villain alien in the group. On the other, I love me a good Curse, and the idea that the Anachronism might be familiar with a previous curse holder sings to me.

I'm going to stick with being Cursed, I think.

@Morphling Choose one physical and one mental quality. Assign one a d8 and the other a d10. Pick a Principle from any with the "identity" category. If you're not sure which one, let me know which ones sound interesting and I'll post photos with more details of those. After that, roll a d10 and 2d8 for your power source.

I think Impulsive and Cursed work really well together! Maybe they were a treasure hunter and recklessly stole a cursed artifact, or couldn't control their temper and insulted/harmed a black magic user who cursed them. Lots of interesting possibilities!

Sure, you can always ask! Conviction is a strong belief or faith, think like a paladin. Self-discipline is control of emotions and willpower, think monk. Finesse is hand dexterity, like anything a rogue would do: pick pockets, pick locks, disable traps, etc.

As much as I like the trope of a cowboy in a town where all the time travelers end up. I think i'll work towards a blue beetle/Greatest American Hero homage if that's ok. A character from today that ened up with advance tech somehow. (depending on how the dice roll I guess)

So use any one die result, or a combination of them, to determine your Power Source. So your options are 4, 8, 12, or 16: Experimentation, Powered Suit, Artificial Being, or Cosmos.

You also use the dice you rolled for powers to assign dice to your powers. So you rolled a d10 and 2d8, meaning you choose three powers, and assign one a d10, and two d8s. Then assign each power a green or yellow ability from below.

as much fun as Wild Card seems, it also looks like it would be annoying to fellow PCs. I'll stick with Close Quarters Combatant for the archetype.
Already have the close combat quality at a d10, so skipping that. (I assume that means I still get to assign that d10 it to a power for my archetype)

Okay, actually following the process this time! I got all kinds of mixed up!

Background: Academic.
Qualities: D12 Magical Lore, D8 Self Discipline.
Principle of: Mastery. You have thoroughly studied your own powers and are proud of your mastery of them. You understand a good deal about the metaphysics of your powers.

Power Source: Supernatural.
Powers: D10 Shapeshifting, D10 Suggestion, D8 Transmutation.
Yellow Abilities: Mass Modification - Boost or Hinder using Transmutation and apply that mod to multiple close targets.
Personal Upgrade - Boost yourself using Shapeshifting. Use your Max Die. This bonus is persistent and exclusive.

Archtype: Shadow.
Powers: D10 Stealth, D10 Intangibility, D6 Finesse.
Principle of: the Tactician. You are constantly assessing the situation making plans and backup plans and then reassessing the situation.
Green Abilities: Untouchable - When you would be dealt damage, roll a d4 while in the Green zone, d6 while in the yellow, or d8 while in Red. Reduce the damage you take by the value rolled. Attack another target with that roll.
Sabotage - Attack using Stealth. Remove one physical bonus or penalty, Hinder a target using your Min die, or maneuver to a new location in your environment.
Yellow Abilities: Diversion - When you would take damage, Defend against that damage by rolling your single Intangibility die.

Could be something like Shazaam where you are a normal person but your signature weapon transforms you into an attractive and buff superhero. Or less extreme like Mjolnir transforms Jane Foster into Thor.

okay, still haven't named the relic (i'm fighting making it bird themed), will make 'Inner Monologue' his backstory quality.
RED Untouchable Movement / Defensive Deflection
and will use Retcon to add another Red ability; Major Regenerate
I should be able to finish everything up tonight. (although the character is looking too defensive now. Oh well, let's see how it plays out.)

2. A gargoyle. A relic that transforms you into a flying stone creature able to absorb damage and pummel targets up close.

Lol yours is a little divided but I have two ideas.
1. An occultist who discovered an ancient shadow demon who bonded with you and lets you transform your body into shadow. Kind of a shadow ninja/monk.
2. Change the shadow archetype for wild card. Go with a Dr Jekyll/Hyde concept where you found an alchemy book that taught you transformation but you go a little crazy when you transform.

So, I’m not sure if it came together. But I think as kind of building towards a Mystique kind of character. I originally had duplication there instead of transmutation. I guess duplication keeps things more self-focused. Shapeshifting, duplication, stealth, suggestion etc, all with the intent of infiltrating, pretending to be someone else and suggesting that people do as I say.

As for Intangability… I guess it kind of fits with being in control of herself!

I'm going to stick with the original Blue Beetle rip off tribute, No Regerts! Prepare to confront the Cyan Cicada! (name pending).
So the relic gives him his powers, but mechanically will represent the 'exoskeleton' that protects him, so will mostly be used to roll the defensive abilities. (it was a tough choice between that, and hiding underground for 13 years đŸ˜…).

Lmao "Cyan Cicada" is the best. The villains will taunt you mercilessly. "Well look who it is, the hero who is only a nuisance every 13 years!' "Shouldn't you be lying dormant?"

Okay, I submitted the character sheet (it should be Public in case anyone beyond the GM wants to look at it). I'll try and doodle up a visual representation for him a bit later. There wasn't a space for the Background, so I'll just post it here for now:

Background
Zachary Toomes was one of the many lost souls who roam the world without purpose. His father was a veteran and a drunk, and his mother was disloyal and blamed her lot in life on Zach's birth. With such a home life, you might imagine that Zach spent a great deal of time looking for excuses not to go home. His friends were similarly disaffected youths, who stayed out late, roaming the town's graveyard, and looking for a higher purpose. A purpose they believed they found when the youngest among them followed their dreams to an abandoned church, which apparently had been built upon the site of another, much older place of worship.

Zach wasn't much of a believer himself, but if his friends wanted to dabble in occult rituals that promised to give them everything they believed they deserved, who was he to stand in their way? It turns out, the others had conspired together -- the ritual required the "blood of an unbeliever" and how better to seal the pact between the survivors than to remove the only one who knew enough to endanger them? He was buried in a shallow grave on the outskirts of town, where, supposedly, he would never be found.

Deep within the embrace of the earth, however, arcane forces continued to twist and form. The ritual may have been performed correctly, but those responsible were not of the bloodline of priests -- the nameless god of that place was not resurrected. Instead, a shard of its ineffable power clawed at Zachary, twisting his body into a creature which would pursue the temple robbers and take back the powers they had stolen. Only when he had done so would he know rest ... but Zach doesn't particularly trust his "patron" to follow through on his end of the deal in the end.

Eh, he was a teenager, whether or not you call that a "child" is semantics. A moody goth-rock sort with no prospects, just in a world where your buddy with an interest in the occult can go full warlock.

Cursed characters tend to go all skulls, chains, and spikes -- but the tone of the series is supposed to be more SatAM Cartoon, so I got to thinking about the enduring popularity of Raven and how that might rub parents the wrong way. Decided to lean into something more Crow-y. I liked the idea that, since he was Cursed, his Abilities tend to come with some form of backlash and leaned into that (though I did mitigate it a bit with Rite of Flagellation)

Red abilities are just like yellow and green. You pick two qualities or power types you possess (mental, athletic, technological, etc.) and pick two red abilities from those categories. Which categories do you have powers and qualities for?

Approved! Nothing updates automatically. You have to go to your character library, click on the gear icon, and then you can edit the name.

Her first memory was of riding down the freeway on her cycle. She didn't know where she had come from. She didn't know where she was going. The emptiness inside her was kept a guarded secret, for she knew it was a weakness. She couldn't let people take advantage of her or blame her for a past she knew nothing of. I was thinking sticky pliable rubber pellets that attach themselves to the target and electrocute them. Got the idea from Stick 'n Shock ammo from Shadowrun.

I mean unless you want us to shoot our villains in the face with automatic weapons, but in most superhero games you generally don't blow people's brains out.

Lol yeah the sticky shocks sound really cool! And yeah lethality has always been a problem in rpgs. Having someone lile Wolverine attack with his claws and not kill people is practically impossible.

Also I want to recommend people customizing their Ability, Power, and Quality names to be thematic for their character. For examples, look at Revenant and Cicada's character sheets! They did an amazing job.
