With the mod count dropping, Gamers' Plane is looking for new moderators. I'm looking for folks who can help me keep the site clean of spam, avoid threads/Discord going crazy, and give me feedback on how to grow the site and community. I don't have an exact count we'll be looking for, but a range of timezones/activity times would be ideal.
What I'm looking for
- Folks to give me their earnest feedback. I'm not looking for yes-men.
- People who can keep an open mind, know how to step back from a situation when it feels like they're getting too involved, and can manage themselves as much as help direct others.
- It'd be nice if you're willing to help me test new features as they come up.
I hold moderators to a higher standard in terms of following rules, but I also try to be understanding, as this is an entirely volunteer position.
The position doesn't involve much. It's mostly responding to spam and making sure threads on the site and conversations on Discord don't get out of hand. I am in the process of trying to revamp the rules to make things clearer, as well as come up with new guidelines on repercussions, and am looking for folks who can help me work on that. There is no strict time requirement. The current/past mods can chime in if they believe I'm wrong here, but for the most part they're already active on the site, and have to occasionally step into something as a moderator. Keeping an eye on public channels/threads and responding to requests via PM/Discord. You can put in as much or as little time as you want, as long as you're active and responsive.
I will state up front that one problem I've noticed with myself is that I am forgetful, and because I spend more of my time developing the site, I sometimes lose track of what is an individual incident and what what is a trend. I'm hoping you'll be patient with me and help remind me of what's going on. The last few days have shown me that I've been making mistakes, and I'm going to try to learn from them.
If you're interested in applying, please fill out this form.
