Riverport has experienced decades of stability-- the alliance between the Lich of Riverport and the Archdruid Seymour Gilp Andreas Villandrean, Esq. proved remarkably durable- since the challenge 30 years ago during the Uprising there has not been another contest for the twelve District Chairs.

But in recent years, the relationship between the two is frayed. The Lich is rarely seen, even more rarely than before-- even the yearly Sakura Festival no longer draws him from his tower. The Arch Druid, meanwhile departed on business of the Church of the Four months ago and has not returned.

No one would think of challenging their districts, or the Tower, of course. . . but there are nine other districts which are not considered as secure.

A Challenge has been called, the first Challenge in who can even remember how long?

Ten days remain until the start of the Challenge, and there's been an influx of bodies into Riverport. What used to be a ritual is born anew as current District Chairs and would be challengers scramble to hire and retain fighters, followers, guards, and assassins. It's a wild rush, and there are any number of patrons offering jink and other rewards for a loyalty that need only last one month-- forty days of intense urban warfare.

You've arrived just in time to sign on with one of the contestants-- will you seek to defend a precarious position, or sign up with an up and comer?
OOC:
This will be 5E DND; on the world of Kesperex-- working on more information for races and setting specific options. Most races will be allowed, but the "classic" races all have differences that make them unique based on sub races.

I'm interested in joining this game.

Quick question: Starting level and dnd version (2014 or 2024)

I'm toying with the idea of a dwarven blade singer wizard, using an axe.

If we are going with the 2024 rules, then I have the excuse to buy the new Eberron supplement to make an artificer, artillerist

I'm interested if it's 2024, still working on learning that one properly. Looking at a half-orc (reskinned orc) Fighter who will go bard at level 2.

So is adventure cooperative play or pvp?

I'm going to go with 2024-- I'm really frustrated and not liking any current edition, and PF1 has diminishing fanbase (and some problems), but I think 2024 at least cleaned up some of the spells that were useless in 2014, so I'm going to give that a whirl.

@badbaron-- I'll have more of the information up soon, but Orcs are very much an accepted part of the campaign setting- they aren't always evil reviled monsters like in LOTR and some settings. The Emperor of the Old Empire is an Orc-- you can absolutely play a half-orc if you prefer exploring the mixed heritage, but you don't need to go half orc to smuggle in an orc.

@Basil-- it will be cooperative! Absolutely fully! The conceit of the game will be that all the player characters sign up to work for the same patron (either an existing council member or a challenger group)-- the group will make that decision through the first "sessions" covering the 10 days prior to the start of the war period.

I'm not sure what level this game will go to, but we're going to start it at level one-- my vision is that it will be a "module" length campaign, and should cover at least levels 1-5, hopefully up to 7-- but because of the nature of the game (10 days before the conest/war period and a 40 day contest/war period) it's going to push players outside the normal adventuring day and you'll have to use your short and long rests to advantage all along the way.

That wasn't the reason; just when I created him for a campaign that had the GM quit on us before his second post, he was born of a human mother who treated it as a problem rather than something to be proud of. So that helped me get a little more into the kind of personality I am creating.

So, great, count me in :-)

What's your preferred GM posting rate? I tend to check in every day then leave it open to alert me if there's posting so any speed works for me.

1/day generally is what I prefer-- I check/post more often and will try to resolve questions etc faster, but I try to wrap combat rounds or sections that need input from each character in about 24 hours.

Posting interest. GM posting rate is fine.
