[Closed] Interest Check - Vaesen

So I've had this idea kind of rolling about in my head for a while and I want to see if there's any interest.

Rules - Vaesen, because it's got a kind of spooky darkness built in and it's set in the 19th Century. I'm not 100% familiar with the rules so it'll be a learn as we go kind of thing. I am familiar with Tales from the Loop and Things from the Flood so I'm not completely fresh to Year Zero.

Setting - The United Kingdom in the late 19th Century, 1889-1890. Why? This is the time of Jack the Ripper, Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Rappaccini, and all those good creepy fellows.

Character Concepts - You are the daughters or sons of various famous literary characters from the 18th and 19th Century. Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde, VanHelsing, Dr. Moreau, Capt. Nemo, Dr. Frankenstein, etc. As the offspring of such an auspicious individual you'll each have one ability that you are incredibly (perhaps - supernaturally?) good at.
(Yes I know Jekyll and Hyde are technically the same person but I mean really, if you squint and look at them sideways, they're not.)

Keep in mind some of these people, according to the stories, didn't have children but rather, created their offspring. Perhaps you're one of those?

Anyways, it's just kind of an idea that I've had and I'm going to go look at Vaesen some more while I wait to see if there's an interest.

If you don't pick.me, Vethalia will really get to hate getting feathers all up in her face. All. The. Time.

I don’t know the rules, but I would be interested.

By any chance, did your father have an unconventionally close relationship with his colleague?

No, his mother is Mary Morstan. They met during the case of Sign of 4

I like the idea, my only concern with this is you'd be quite young and couldn't be the child of Mary and John. John was born in 1852 so by 1889 he'd be 37ish. John meets Mary in 1888. We know he gets his medical degree from Saint Bart's in 1878 at age 26 and goes to Afghanistan and India after that. You'd have to be his child from sometime before that ...

If not I might make him a member of the Buendia family

We could figure something out we've got characters in Scandinavia I'm certain we can find like King Lindworm.

A quick google of Buendia kind of reminds me of Encanto, probably an inspiration for the movie. Are any of them from back in the 1800's, the family tree's I can find in a rush don't have birth or death dates on them.

The only thing for either is why are they in the UK?

I'd have to look through the Vaesen Britain book and see if there are shape changers there and I guarantee there are as the Norse spent a year or two in England.

The Buendia are the family from a Hundred Years of Solitude. It’s one of my favorite books. Maybe he would be in England to study, work, or avoid instability in his homeland.

But honestly I prefer the occultist concept.

Give me a day or three to create a page.

I'm considering Allan Quatermain, of King Solomon's Mines fame. Hunter, explorer, somewhat mystical and cryptozoologist cal.

Will you be their son or daughter?

I tried to create a page tonight ... GP ate my words, smiled and burped but gave me nothing.

*sigh*

An Anna Van Helsing could also be an alternative, since math got the better of my Watson idea ;)

I also like the idea of someone who "claims" to be related to Baron Munchausen

Ember you might already know this, but Free League also put out a Vaesen book called Mythic Britain & Ireland. Might be right over the plate for what you're planning. Cool concept btw! Not applying, but good luck and have fun!

I'd really like to be a part of this!

I am completely unfamiliar with Vaesen, but this does sound like an interesting campaign.
