The Dream Thieves
You've journeyed far across Xoth, from the familiar Western lands of dirt and grass and mud, into the exotic and steaming jungles of the East. Traveling past the ape-worshipping city of Laksha, you've come to the spice capital, the city called Azjan.

The humid heat is heavy on you as you approach the city gates. No one hails or halts your small convoy of pack mules as you enter, following the elderly merchant Aktar Besh. This will be his last trip eastward, he swears at every evening meal; "My bones are old," he says, "and this moist weather makes them burn."

Within the high white wall, the streets are empty and the colorful buildings are silent. You look about you with an eerie feeling. But Aktar calms you newcomers: "It is the siesta," he says. "The people of the city rest out of the heat. As we should, also. There is a tavern I know that has stables for our mules."

High in the heaven, a large dark bird swoops and dodges a pair of smaller birds that repeatedly dive at it and then dart upward again.

scoundrels is a hard-mode old school game (all rolls are 2d6) that can use the D&D spell list. Sorcerous scoundrels should be loaded down with trinkets that help them cast different spells, bc magic (like combat) makes your Luck run out!

Xoth is an old school campaign setting with numerous published adventures. I'm going to start not with one of those, but with an adventure published for a DIFFERENT setting and adapted to Xoth.

Xoth is a very Conan setting with violence, slavery, dark magic, doom, existential and physical horror, etc. The preceding are the most obvious trigger warnings. Players and I will be expected to draw a veil of sparse description and allusion over the gruesomeness. But we all will know it's there.

As long as you can play nicely with others, you're welcome to join the game. Max 5 players.

Sounds interesting and I would like to give it a try. Is there a pdf of the rules?

Free download is linked in the first post.

A lean system - fine, more possibilities to play. I don't understand the need for trinkets, but that's only interesting for creation.

Will it be more conan-like, like we are the swords against sorcery, or more typical like being a mixed group of scoundrels with versatile abilities?

Notwithstanding, count me in. ;-)

A sorcerous trinket counts as an item (or maybe multiple items) that make it easier to cast a spell.

Glad to have you!

We'll see what people want to play and then decide what we want to do. The published adventure we're starting with has certain swords-against-sorcery vibes.
