Hello everyone,
I've been looking for the best place to play by post for a while now. And I'm pretty sure this is it. You have something really impressive here.
(who runs this place? No ads? No fees? Is it out of the goodness of your hearts? How long has this been here? It looks like a LONG time.)
I have just learnt about the OSR phenomena, but that's not me. I'm not old school, just old. I've played D&D since the 70's and this year I have decided to quit 5e, ignore Hasbro/WotC and go back to where I've always been happy, OG 1st/2nd edition AD&D.
I have every book I've ever gotten, but I don't have them all. So, I've spent the summer nosing around in used book stores, comic shops, game stores, flea markets etc. and I've been shocked at how little I've found. I don't know why. I know, I know, just shop on-line. But I'm old, I don't wanna. Anyone have any tips, I'm all ears. If anyone wants to trade old TSR books for new WotC books, let me know.
I was pleasantly surprised how much interest my first game got! I hope enough people play 2e games that I can play in some too.
I'll start small, and run bigger and bigger games as I figure the mechanics out here, re-familliarize (if that's a word) myself with the old system, and find more books. One thing I've been looking for is a place to take notes. I tried sending myself a message, but that doesn't work. Some kind of DM note pad attached to the game forum would be really helpful. Is there something I haven't found?
Thank you all. Everyone has been helpful and friendly.
